Visual Psychophysics and Physiological Optics Experimental Simulation of Simultaneous Vision
نویسندگان
چکیده
METHODS. The instrument provides the eye with two superimposed images, aligned and with the same magnification, but with different defocus states. Subjects looking through the instrument are able to experience pure simultaneous vision, with adjustable refractive correction and addition power. The instrument is used to investigate the impact of the amount of addition of an ideal bifocal simultaneous vision correction, both on image contrast and on visual performance. The instrument is validated through computer simulations of the letter contrast and by equivalent optical experiments with an artificial eye (camera). Visual acuity (VA) was measured in four subjects (age: 34.3 6 3.4 years; spherical error: 2.1 6 2.7 diopters [D]) for low and high contrast letters and different amounts of addition.

متن کاملAdaptive optics without altering visual perception
Adaptive optics combined with visual psychophysics creates the potential to study the relationship between visual function and the retina at the cellular scale. This potential is hampered, however, by visual interference from the wavefront-sensing beacon used during correction. For example, we have previously shown that even a dim, visible beacon can alter stimulus perception (Hofer et al., 201...

METHODS. We measured the covariation between these four abilities in children 4 to 9 years of age (n1⁄472) with strabismus, anisometropia, or mixed strabismus/anisometropia, and unaffected controls. Children reported the orientation of a target (a modified ‘‘Pac-Man,’’ similar to Landolt-C stimuli) using four ‘‘ghosts’’ as references. Using a modified staircase procedure we measured threshold s...
